Here’s a
question for you. What do a salesman,
an educator, a truck driver, a technology addict,
and a brew master
all have in
common? Individually, they are all very good at what they do, but
together, they form JB & Company, one of the hottest
bands on the Country scene in Western New York. They share a love
of music, a burning desire to perform, and a get down, fun lovin’
attitude that captures the hearts of audiences wherever they
play.
Put them all on the same stage, anywhere, any time, and there’s an
undeniable magic in the air.
Led by Michigan native John Braun,
the band has a unique sound that some have described as “Country flavor
with a twist.” Braun,
who
plays acoustic guitar and sings lead vocals, has an unmistakable style
that has developed over years of playing to a variety of audiences
across the country. His easy-going manner and firm rapport with
his fans have led him to opening positions for such diverse performers
as Bob Seeger, Ray Stevens, and the Association, before establishing
himself in Rochester,
NY as a talented performer in the local music scene.
It was there that Braun met Paul
Lindsley, a bassist whose talents had only recently been
resurrected after a hiatus that he describes as “self-inflicted, just
till the kids grew up.” His background
covers a wide range of musical
taste and experience, culminating in an acoustic trio that was quite
popular in Rochester’s early 70’s. In the late ‘90’s, Lindsley
and
Braun were introduced by a mutual friend, and they began performing
together on a regular basis.
As the song list grew, Paul
recruited long-time friend and guitarist Danny Ray to come and sit in
with him and John. Danny had
only recently overcome an injury that forced him to put aside his
instrument for a period of almost ten years. But his love of music and
performing prevailed, so with grit and determination, he rehabilitated
his injured hand, and began learning difficult finger style musical
pieces to redevelop the skills he thought he would never use
again. The smile
on his
face
is a fitting testament to the satisfaction and joy that Danny has found
again.
The most recent
recruit to the "Company" is
Jim McDermott,
in the role of drummer. After filling in on
a few occasions, it seemed only natural to ask Jim to join when Warren
Skye felt the need to move on. Jim has been involved in a number
of musical projects, and takes his role as timekeeper
seriously. His experience lends an air of confidence to his
playing the forms a solid foundation for the rest of the band.
Jim loves an plays all kinds of music, but he's discovered a new
level of performance with this band, and he's ready to take on
the challenge.
Music fans from
all over western New York have been raving about this band, especially
for its versatility. In just a short time, performing with Josie
Waverly,
a perennial favorite among Country fans, the band has opened for Joe Diffie,
Phil
Vassar, Daryll
Worley, The
Marshall
Tucker Band, Sawyer Brown, David Lee Murphy, Kevin Sharp, Diamond Rio,
Steve Azar, Keith Urban,
Rascal
Flats, Julie Roberts, Kerry Harvick, Billy Currington, and CMA
“Entertainer of the Year” Tim McGraw.
With vocals that can go from lush and romantic to hard and edgy, and a
range of material that provides favorites for just about everyone, JB
& Company is sure to give you “Music that makes you feel good!”
